What is Zeolite?

Zeolite is a crystalline mineral composed of silicon, aluminum, and oxygen. Zeolite can retain up to 60% of its weight in water and serves as a lasting soil amendment; unlike other amendments, it is not consumed by microbes and will not break down.

Benefits of Zeolite

Zeolite effectively reduces nitrate leaching from nitrogen-rich fertilizers by inhibiting the conversion of ammonium to nitrate, thereby lessening groundwater contamination. When applied around existing plants or combined with fertilizer, it enhances nutrient uptake, ultimately leading to increased yields.

• It functions as a soil conditioner, retaining more moisture in the soil. One hundred grams of Zeolite can hold 80 grams of water and release it readily to plants.

• Zeolites are also known to store nutrients and release them gradually, making them suitable for use with singular fertilizers.

• They can be incorporated into the soil during the soil preparation phase.

• In pots, they can be placed at the bottom to absorb excess draining water and recover escaping nutrients.

• They can also be used to line the bottom of lawn beds prior to soil placement, which can enhance the efficiency of water and nutrient use in your lawn.

How to Use Zeolite

Apply 1 pound of Zeolite per 5 gallons of soil.
