What is Fish Compost?

Our fish compost is sourced from fresh water fish farms located in the pristine waters of the North Channel. It is blended with sawdust to create a highly effective soil amendment, providing a natural source of nitrogen. Fish material is well-recognized for its beneficial nitrogen content when incorporated into compost.

Benefits of Fish Compost

Fish compost delivers a nutrient-rich, biologically active root medium that enables plants to effectively combat diseases and flourish. It serves as a robust soil amendment and can be utilized for various applications, including as a turf or lawn top dressing, mulch, and erosion control medium, while assisting in soil moisture retention.

How to Use Fish Compost

For every 25 square feet of annuals, bedding plants, vegetables, and herbs, mix 1 tablespoon of fish compost per gallon of water. For perennials, bulbs, roses, shrubs, and vines, use 2 tablespoons of fish compost per gallon of water for every 25 square feet of soil.

Apply 1-3 inches of fish compost to the existing soil and integrate it into the top 3-4 inches, where plant roots are most active. You may plant directly into the mixture and apply an additional inch of fish compost on top to help enhance soil moisture retention and suppress weed growth. Ensure to leave a ¼ inch gap around the stem of the plant.
